Strange Hunting edition by Dave Robertson Literature Fiction eBooks

Strange Hunting is written in the form of an autobiography of a young man who becomes a monster hunter. One thing I really enjoyed about this book was that each chapter involved the hunting of a different kind of monster in a different part of the world, which enabled the author to provide interesting background information on lesser-known monsters and a backdrop of fascinating exotic locations (one of the reasons people enjoy James Bond and Mission Impossible movies). This made the book an exciting page-turner with each chapter bringing something new and interesting.
My only small complaint is that I would have preferred a somewhat more sophisticated writing style; for me, too many of the sentences (especially in the initial chapters) were short, simple declarative statements that seemed intended for a younger audience in spite of the fact that content seemed intended for a both young adult and adult readership.
The bottom line is that Strange Hunting is an enjoyable, interesting read for anyone who like monsters, both traditional and exotic. I definitely look forward to reading Strange Hunting II.

Strange Hunting edition by Dave Robertson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I think the tittle says it all. This is a good old fashioned horror book. All the characters were cool and brave.
But they were still human and sometimes fearful. Give this one a read you won't be sorry!
I love scary stories, and David Robertson in his latest Book ‘Strange Hunting’ is certainly talented in writing them. This is a well written eBook in which a teenage boy goes travelling around the world hunting down monsters, cannibals, trolls and the like. Having read the 1st story in the eBook, I could not wait to see what would happen in the other short stories to follow, and so on I read until it was quite late. I went to bed with goose bumps! Can’t wait to see what future scary/spooky delights will come from the brilliant mind of this author.
I have to take time to write this before I begin reading the second one. I can't tell you how good this was. I love this story writer. He is really good. I couldn't put this book down. I loved ALL of the stories. I had to buy the second one right now. You will love this if you like paranormal stuff.
Thank you if you read this.

Amazing story. I admire the very good editing and self-publishing work that was done to make this eBook possible (as an indie author myself I know how hard it is).
If you like adventure, mysticism, or horror, you will love this intelligent story that keeps your mind moving from one locale to another. A lot of research had to go into this. It reads like an autobiography and I even question if Berk Willis (the storyteller) was real or not. Perhaps that's what I liked most - the sense that it was really happening and I was there. I have an adventurous spirit and am an avid investigator of the occult. It did not leave me disappointed and I am going to reread some parts.
Strange Hunting, by Dave Robertson, is a dark confection of fun on many, many levels.

We meet Berk Willis as he's looking back on his early days as a monster hunter. A high school teenager living a discontented life at his farm home with his mother, Berk yearns for a life of significance. His father, traveling abroad, invites him to a hunting trip in Africa--and while they are there, the two of them become enlisted by a tribal elder to wipe out ... well, a pack of zombies. And so begins Berk's globetrotting early years. Mali, Finland, Romania, Slovakia, South America--within roughly a four-year-span, Berk punctuates the real-life adventures of finishing high school, starting college, and enduring the disintegration of his parents' marriage by monster hunting, and there's definitely no shortage of them to be had wind spirits, trolls, river monsters, genetically engineered Russian mutants, catacomb ghouls, strigoi (vampires, to the uninitiated), the afore-mentioned zombies--these are the highlights of Berk's life. Tracking them, trapping them, killing them. Guarding frightened villagers against the risen dead, staking out graveyards at night, organizing warbands against the denizens of Hell. You know, that really IS more interesting than just taking another foreign language class ...

Through all of these quests, Berk grows as a young man, finds independence from his mentor-father, and matures as an individual within a richly described world of various, but always collective, societies. Our author, Mr. Robertson, has done much research and work to become an authority on each of the cultures Berk finds himself immersed in--and he does it as a period piece, too, setting his adventures in the early 1970s. One does not gain access to the local monster menagerie 400 miles north of Mali in the same way one would ingratiate himself to the locals of vampire-ridden Romania, after all.

Travel! Adventure! Horror! And a permeating dash of family drama and coming-of-age. Not bad for a few bucks' worth of investiture. Bravo, Dave Robertson. You made your world mine for two exhilarating days, and I am sad to leave it.
